I am still using my old Nut Wizard which still works all right. Some of the wires are bent and stretched. I have had several Nut Wizards and they are a wonderful tool for picking up gum balls.
Our range consists of rocks and gravel so rolling the basket like a lawn mower will pick up gravel as well as cases. Using the tap method is not only productive but fun. I stand above the brass case and align the basket with the case and lightly tap it. All it takes is a simple wrist movement and a then a light tap and your brass is in the basket with very little chance of picking up any gravel. I always sort the brass afterwards so I can remove stones at that time. I pick up 50 or 60 rounds and then empty the basket ,although it looks like it would hold 2 or 3 times that amount. I'm much more likely to pick up my brass since I don't worry about making my back sore.
I bought the large Nut Wizard to help keep my sweet gum balls in check. The Nut Wizard keeps me off my knees and is easy on my back when grabbing these balls. Highly recommend!
I purchased the extra small brass wizard as a Christmas gift for my husband. He loves it and says it does a great job picking up gun casings off of grass or concrete.
We will know more when we use it next fall, not sure about the metal handle. But our first Nut Wizard ordered years ago with a wooden handle was awesome. Unfortunately, I ran over the basket with our John Deere tractor mower. We have 20+ black walnut trees, and every year this saves our backs during the black walnut harvest season. We are in our 60's and that is saying a LOT!! I expect it to be just as valuable to our yard clean up as the other one.
